Welcome to Earth Science. I look forward to a great semester where I get to share with you my knowledge of Earth Science and its 4.6 billion-year-old history. This course will introduce students to the Earth as a complex and dynamic system. The focus will be on the solid Earth, the oceans, the atmosphere, and interactions among these subsystems. Students will learn of the Earth's origin and place within the solar system. This class satisfies the General Education State Core Science requirement for A.A. degree-seeking students.

While you may not be pursuing an Earth Science degree, this subject matter is an excellent medium for the development of critical thinking. By developing critical thinking skills through advanced science courses, you create the ability to be more of an independent thinker. You will also become a more informed citizen, voter, and steward of the planet, all of which critical thinking is crucial to your success in any of these roles.

Although there are some mathematical applications, there are no co- or pre-requisites for this course.
